Topic:
The session will focus on the structural logistical changes occurring in the energy markets at the national level, and the prominence of rail as it relates to energy. Mr. Gray will present for approximately 45 minutes, and then the audience will ask questions for another 45 minutes, serving as a forum for discussion of emerging issues regarding the transportation by rail of energy resources (including, but not necessarily limited to, petroleum, coal, ethanol, and other biofuels).

Speaker Biography:

John Gray
Senior Vice President, Policy and Economics, Association of American Railroads (AAR)

Prior to joining the AAR he worked for Union Pacific in Business Development and as Vice President and General Manager, Industrial Products.

Before working at Union Pacific he held commercial, operating and strategic positions at Southern Pacific, Burlington Northern Railroad, ARCO-Alaska and The Alaska Railroad as well as a faculty position at the University of Alaska. Prior to that, he held a commission in the U.S. Army and served in Germany for four years.

He holds both Bachelors and Masters degrees in Engineering from Tulane University and did additional work in mathematical modeling of transportation systems at Northwestern University.
