Michelle Patron

Michelle Patron is an energy strategist and thought leader with deep expertise in global energy markets, climate policy, geopolitics and environmental regulations.  She has two decades of unique experience advising private investors, governments and NGOs on regional and global energy markets and driving high impact policy. Patron recently served as Special Assistant to the President and Senior Director for Energy and Climate at the National Security Council at the White House designing and executing international energy and climate policy, including the historic climate deal with China.  Prior to the White House, she was Senior Director at PIRA Energy Group, a leading private energy research and consulting firm. Earlier in her career, Patron worked at the Department of Energy, International Energy Agency and Center for International Environmental Law, and served as energy attache´ at the U.S. Embassy in Beijing.  Patron holds a BA from Columbia University and a MA from Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies.  She has served as an expert commentator to CNBC, BBC, NPR, Fox, CBS, the Economist and the New York Times and written op-eds for Foreign Affairs, the Financial Times and the Los Angeles Times.  She has also been an adjunct professor at New York University and is a Life Member of the Council on Foreign Relations.

Michael Levi

Michael Levi is the David M. Rubenstein senior fellow for energy and the environment at the Council on Foreign Relations and director of CFR’s Maurice R. Greenberg Center for Geoeconomic Studies. He is an expert on domestic and international energy markets and policy, climate change, and nuclear security. Dr. Levi is author of four books, most recently The Power Surge: Energy, Opportunity, and the Battle for America's Future, which explored the drivers and consequences of two emerging revolutions in American energy, and By All Means Necessary: How China's Resource Quest is Changing the World (with Elizabeth Economy), which investigated Chinese efforts to secure natural resources, including in North America. He is a member of the Advisory Board to Princeton University's Carbon Mitigation Initiative, the Strategic Advisory Board for NewWorld Capital LLC, and the World Economic Forum's Global Agenda Council on Geo-Economics. Before joining CFR, Dr. Levi was a science fellow in foreign policy studies at the Brookings Institution. Dr. Levi holds an MA in physics from Princeton University and a Ph.D. in war studies from the University of London (King’s College).

Jan Stuart
Jan Stuart is the Head of Energy Commodities Research and a Managing Director with the Fixed Income division of Credit Suisse. He and his team produce fundamentals driven analysis of oil and natural gas markets worldwide. Jan has held similar posts with Macquarie Bank and UBS since mid 2005. Prior to joining UBS, Mr. Stuart was head of research for Energy Futures at Fimat, a subsidiary of Société Générale.  Before that he was head of research for the Global Energy Futures unit of ABN Amro.  Until December 2000, Mr. Stuart was editor of Petroleum Intelligence Weekly, in New York, and Bureau Chief of Petroleum Intelligence Week Publications in London as well as the editor of Oil Market Intelligence. Mr. Stuart started his professional career in the analysis of global energy markets with the International Energy Agency in Paris in April 1987. Mr. Stuart holds an M.S. in Journalism from Columbia University in New York, an M.A. in International Relations from Boston University and a B.A. in International Affairs from the American University in Paris, France.
