The United States relied on energy imports for many decades. Following the shale revolution, US domestic oil and gas production surged and the US became a net energy exporter in 2019. The US is now the world's leading producer of oil and gas and a major LNG exporter. The US has also been deploying solar PV and onshore wind at scale and investing in new energy technologies. These developments have significantly enhanced US energy security and has created new global geopolitical dynamics. At the same time, China has led the manufacturing, deployment and export of clean energy technologies including solar PV, batteries and EVs. China is also the leading producer and processor of many critical minerals. What does US “Energy Dominance” mean? What are the implications of US-China competition in energy production and exports? Will China succeed in global push for renewable energy and the target to reach peak emissions within this decade? What will be the implications for international climate negotiations? And for global trade in energy?
This event will be a virtual session via Zoom Webinar from 10:30 AM until 12:00 PM ET. Additional details will be provided to registered attendees prior to the session.
