Edward L. Morse Chairs the Energy Forum Advisory Board and is Special Advisor at Hartree Partners. Previously, he was Global Head of Commodities Research at Citi. He held similar positions at Lehman and Credit Suisse, taught at Princeton, Columbia and Johns Hopkins, worked at the Council on Foreign Relations, served as Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Energy Policy, and in management at Phillips Petroleum. A co-founder of PFC Energy, a former publisher at Energy Intelligence, he also worked at Hess Energy Trading. As a consultant helped design Yemen's oil pricing policy and assisted the UN Security Council on the design and negotiation of the Iraqi Oil-for-Food Program. He writes op-eds for the FT, NY Times, Wall Street Journal and Washington Post and often comments at Bloomberg TV and CNBC. He has been a Senior Fellow of both the USAEE and the IEEJ and was named by Petroleum Economist as among the ten most prominent individuals in energy finance.
Louise Burke is President of the Energy Forum Advisory Board and is currently working for Argus Media on strategic business initiatives for the company. Prior to this, Ms. Burke was Executive Director of the Energy Forum, and president of J.C. Energy, an energy consulting firm. She has worked extensively in the energy sector analyzing pricing and markets for Mobil Oil Canada, Alberta Energy Company and Petroleos DeVenezuela. In addition, as Vice-President, Marketing for the New York Mercantile Exchange she supervised major energy and metals futures and options product launches and was closely involved in the successful growth of energy commodity markets. Ms Burke has also been affiliated with the SIPA energy program at Columbia University, New York as an instructor in the area of petroleum markets trading since 2008. Ms. Burke holds a BA honors economics degree from the University of Alberta and an MBA from New York University.
Kibui Pyron is Secretary of the Energy Forum Advisory Board and is Vice President, Corporate Communications-Sustainability and ESG at Moody's Corporation, where she provides global strategic support for company wide climate-related research, solutions, and initiatives, as well as corporate sustainability efforts. She previously served for 15 years as the Energy/Climate/Environment Lead and a Senior Officer in the Foreign Policy and Diplomacy Service at the Consulate General of Canada in New York. There, she worked expansively in advocacy, communications, and investment/trade promotion across all aspects of the Canadian energy sector, focusing on engagement with the U.S. public and private sectors, and positioning within the U.S. market. Prior to the Consulate General, she worked for Seedco, a national community development non-profit organization, and for the Chief Policy Advisor in the Executive Office of the Governor of Massachusetts. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree with honors in Political Science and Mass Communications from Boston University.
Rob Cassidy is Treasurer of the Energy Forum Advisory Board and Senior Marketing Manager for Saudi Aramco’s US affiliate Saudi Petroleum International Inc. He is responsible for Saudi Aramco’s crude oil marketing in the Americas, customer relationships, and crude pricing as well as fundamental analysis of crude markets. Previously, Mr. Cassidy worked at the Saudi Arabian Refining & Marketing Company (SAMAREC) in their New York City office called Petronal, before its merger with Saudi Aramco. He also provided global oil supply/demand analysis to the Saudi Ministry of Petroleum. Mr. Cassidy worked at the Energy Intelligence Group and at Royal Dutch Shell’s New York affiliate Scallop Petroleum in the 1980s. He started his career as an oil economist with Texaco in the Finance & Economics Department. Mr. Cassidy holds an MBA from CUNY’s Bernard Baruch College, a post master’s degree in finance from New York University and a BS degree in economics/math from SUNY, Oneonta.
Jason Lemme is Assistant Treasurer of the Energy Forum Advisory Board. He is a Managing Partner at Hartree Partners LP and sits on the company’s Executive Committee. Mr. Lemme has served in various roles in trading, origination and investment since joining the company in 2002. He graduated with a B.A. Economics (summa cum laude) from Rutgers University and earned a M.Sc. Global Market Economics from the London School of Economics.
Amy Myers Jaffe serves as Director of the Energy, Climate Justice and Sustainability Lab at New York University's School of Professional Studies and is a research professor who teaches graduate level courses examining global climate finance, energy and climate justice, and energy and climate policy. A leading expert on global energy policy, sustainability, and geopolitical risk, Jaffe is author of several books including her most recent book, “Energy’s Digital Future” published in 2021 by Columbia University Press. A frequent media commentator, Jaffe is co-chair of the Women in Energy Initiative at Columbia University and a faculty affiliate at the Climate Policy Lab at Tufts University. From 2014 to 2017, Jaffe served as senior advisor on sustainability to the Office of the Chief Investment Officer of the University of California, Regents where she helped design the sustainable investing framework for the UC’s $140 billion in pension and endowment funds.
Antoine Halff is adjunct senior research scholar at Columbia University's Center on Global Energy Policy and chief analyst and founding partner at Kayrros, a data analytics company that leverages artificial intelligence, advanced mathematics and satellite imaging to help its clients track energy and commodity flows, monitor industrial assets and reduce their climate footprint. Earlier, he served as chief oil analyst of the International Energy Agency in Paris, lead industry economist at the U.S. Energy Information Administration, head of commodities research at Newedge, a Société Générale subsidiary, and director of the Global Energy practice at Eurasia Group, among others. His book, Energy Poverty: Global Challenges and Local Solutions (Oxford: Oxford University Press, 2014), co-edited with Jon Rozhon and Benjamin Sovacool, was released by Oxford University Press in 2014. Mr. Halff holds an advanced degree from the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales, Paris, and a Masters from Université Paris VII.
Atul Arya is Senior Vice President and Chief Energy Strategist at S&P Global and is responsible for integrating energy content, analysis and insights across the entire energy value chain and for C-suite client engagements. Dr. Arya’s areas of expertise include energy strategy, climate change, energy transition, renewables, CCS, Hydrogen, clean energy technologies, upstream oil and gas and energy markets. He has previously led Energy Insight, Research and Analysis, and Energy Research teams at IHS and IHS Markit. Dr. Arya has over 35 years of leadership experience in the energy industry, including senior positions with bp. His international career spans a diverse array of energy fields from strategy development and business planning to field operations and technology innovation. Dr. Arya has previously served on boards of several companies and institutions including Tata BP Solar, Green Mountain Energy and National Council for Atmospheric Research. He was a member of the World Economic Forum’s Agenda Council on the Future of Oil and Gas and Adjunct Senior Fellow at Council on Foreign Relations. Dr. Arya holds B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in petroleum engineering.
Carolyn Kissane serves as the Associate Dean of New York University’s Center for Global Affairs and Director of NYU’s SPS Energy, Climate Justice, and Sustainability Lab. Carolyn Kissane’s areas of thought leadership and entrepreneurship include the Energy Transition, Sustainability Innovation, and Policy, as well as Cybersecurity. Dr. Kissane is a lifetime member of the Council on Foreign Relations, a member of the National Committee on US-China Relations. She serves on the boards of the New York Energy Forum, New York Energy Week, and Clean Start Advisory Board. She was awarded Breaking Energy’s Top Ten New York Women in Energy and Top Ten Energy Communicator. She hosts Fueling our Future, which brings energy and environment experts together for discussion and debate. Dr. Kissane received her Ph.D. from Columbia University.
David H. Knapp is Chief Energy Economist and Senior Editor for Global Oil Market Analysis at Energy Intelligence Group in New York. He served as Editor of EIG's monthly Oil Market Intelligence from 2001 to 2017. He has analyzed energy markets for 40 years in the international, government, business and financial sectors. He was former President of the New York Energy Forum and a founding member and 2018 President of the International Association for Energy Economics. Dr. Knapp holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of California at Santa Barbara.
Emilie Gallagher is the Global Head of Macro Products at Bloomberg LP. In this capacity, she oversees the content, applications, and services within the Bloomberg Terminal, covering FX, Cryptocurrencies, Commodities, and Economics. This includes third-party content acquisition, proprietary content development, integration of Terminal functionality, and development of strategic partnerships. Emilie is also Global Head of Bloomberg's Women in Product Community, which focuses on recruiting female talent, developing women product leaders, and driving business impact. In addition, she serves as a member of the Bloomberg Benchmark Oversight Committee. With over 15 years at Bloomberg, Emilie has held a number of sales and market specialist management roles. Prior to her current position, she served as the Americas Head of Sales for Commodities and Corporates, where she was responsible for commercial strategy. She has a Bachelor's Degree in Arts Management from the College of Charleston in Charleston, SC.
Jason Bordoff is Co-Founding Dean of the Columbia Climate School, Founding Director of the Center on Global Energy Policy, and Professor of Professional Practice in International and Public Affairs at Columbia University SIPA. He previously served as Special Assistant to President Obama and Senior Director for Energy and Climate Change on the Staff of the National Security Council, and, held senior policy positions on the White House's National Economic Council and Council on Environmental Quality. He is a columnist for Foreign Policy magazine and a frequent commentator on TV and radio. Bordoff served in the Treasury Department during the Clinton Administration. He is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and the Trilateral Commission, serves on the boards of The Nature Conservancy, Winrock International, and Foreign Policy 4 America. He also serves on the Leadership Council for Sustainable Energy for All. Bordoff graduated with honors from Harvard Law School, holds an MLitt degree from Oxford University, and a BA from Brown University.
Johannes (Jan) Stuart serves as global energy strategist at Piper Sandler. A self-described oil-geek, Stuart and his team take a micro-fundamentals approach to the analysis and forecasting of the whole spectrum of energy (not just oil) - which frequently lands them away from consensus. Before joining Piper Sandler in 2017, Jan spent another 12 years in sell-side research building leading energy-macro franchises at Credit Suisse, Macquarie, UBS and ABN-Amro. He was a journalist for much of the nineties and started his career at the International Energy Agency in Paris. Mr. Stuart earned a BA in International Affairs from the American University in Paris; an MA in the same field from Boston University; and an MSc in Journalism from Columbia University in New York.
Johannes Van Der Tuin is an independent energy markets consultant and longtime analyst. He previously led the energy practice at Medley Global Advisors, with a focus on energy commodities, corporates and the energy transition. He joined MGA from Credit Suisse in November 2017, where he covered oil, natural gas, and US independent refiners as an equity analyst. He holds a M.A. in International Economics and International Affairs, with a focus on energy markets and politics, from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), a Graduate Certificate in China Studies from the Johns Hopkins – Nanjing University Center for Chinese and American Studies (HNC), as well as a B.A. in Political Science from Kenyon College.
Katherine Spector is an independent consultant on energy markets and energy policy with ProSpector Energy Advisors. She is a longtime energy market analyst, having spent the past 15+ years producing thought-leading research at major banks including JPMorgan Chase and Deutsche Bank where was responsible for the banks' energy price forecasts and market. Her work supported bank traders and originators in all major regions, and clients ranged from oil and gas companies, to institutional investors, to representatives of US and international government. Ms. Spector is also on the board of the New York Energy Forum and serves as an advisory committee member for environmental non-profit Scenic Hudson. She was previously a fellow at Columbia University’s Center on Global Energy Policy, an adjunct faculty member at Columbia's School of International and Public Affairs and held term membership at the Council on Foreign Relations.
Michael Tran is a Managing Director within the Global Energy Strategy Research team at RBC Capital Markets. He has spent nearly 15 years in the energy markets in research, sales and trading and investment banking with major banks like UBS based in London and energy trading platforms like BP based in Calgary. Michael's energy views are frequently quoted in media outlets and he routinely appears on television networks like Bloomberg, CNN and BNN. He is a frequent advisor to both the Canadian Federal and Alberta government. Michael is also a Non-Resident Senior Fellow at New York University’s Center for Global Affairs. He also serves on the Advisory Board of Orbital Insight, a Silicon Valley based Artificial Intelligence tech company, and on the Business Committee of the US Association of Energy Economists (USAEE). He graduated with distinction from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Commerce in Finance and Economics.
